Special features/ Value addition –

Our students are from diverse backgrounds. While few are from urban areas, most students come from very traditional and conservative rural  backgrounds. Many of them (about  70%) are from socially and economically backward areas of the country. Some of them are even from the scheduled tribes of India. The goals of David Memorial College of Education for Women are therefore manifold:

1. The first is to recognize the various rich socio-cultural backgrounds of the students.

2. The second is to highlight the special features of each subculture and work for mutual regard and respect among the groups.

3. The third is to promote interaction between the rural and urban students for mutual growth and benefit.

4. The fourth is to use the combined resources of all the students for further growth and development of the community in which the college is situated and of the State.

5. The fifth is to equip the students with skills which will help them to perform effectively as teachers not only at the local level but even at the global level.

To achieve this, while following the prescribed curriculum systematically, organizing talent competitions, undertaking remedial teaching for disadvantaged children, counseling for teens on health care and vocational guidance, participation in pre-school education programs for the under privileged children are some of the community projects undertaken by our students at the local level. Learning English for communication, making presentation, participating in group discussions, seminars and projects, taking part in inter collegiate and inter- state competitions, organizing events etc., are all aimed at enhancing their skills to meet the global challenge. We are proud to state that our students have consistently excelled at  academics, recognized by the community and the media for their community work, and have found placements well before even the completion of their course work
